Aboriginal Law, Justice & Governance in the Wellesley Islands
Junkuri Laka Wellesley Islands Aboriginal Law Justice & Governance Association Inc is an Indigenous-led organization committed to advancing Aboriginal law, justice systems, and governance in the Wellesley Islands. We work to ensure that Aboriginal communities can exercise self-determination and govern their own affairs according to customary law and contemporary governance principles.
As an ACNC-registered charity, we are dedicated to strengthening Aboriginal legal traditions, supporting culturally appropriate justice processes, and enabling Indigenous communities to maintain their sovereignty and self-governance. We believe that Aboriginal law and traditional governance systems are vital to community wellbeing and cultural continuity.
We advocate for Aboriginal communities' right to self-determination and the exercise of sovereignty in managing their own legal and governance affairs.
We promote justice systems that are culturally appropriate, fair, and grounded in Aboriginal values and respect for human dignity.
We honor and advance Aboriginal law, customs, and traditions as essential elements of cultural identity and community continuity.
We empower Aboriginal communities to lead their own governance processes and make decisions that reflect their values and aspirations.
